Why am I getting an error when I click on an Excel file in Panorama
Fix a Microsoft Edge behaviour that prevents your files from downloading normally.
If you are using Microsoft Edge and an Excel file shows an error instead of downloading, the cause is your browser. Edge includes a feature that automatically intercepts Office files and attempts to display them online via Microsoft Office Online. Depending on how your files are hosted, this attempt can result in an error.
Turn off automatic opening in Edge
- In Microsoft Edge, click the "..." menu in the top right corner.
- Select "Downloads".
- Turn off the "Open Office files in the browser" option.
Your Excel files will download normally from that point on.
Use a different browser
If you prefer not to change your Edge settings, opening Panorama in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox also resolves the issue.
