# How to assign an owner and due date to a follow-up

## Clarify who needs to act, and by when, so nothing gets lost along the way.

Each follow-up can be assigned to an owner and given a due date, making it easier to track your board's commitments.

1. Open the follow-up in question from your follow-up list.

2. Click the "Assignee" field and select the person in question.

3. Click the "Due date" field and select a date.

4. Save your changes.

The assigned owner can be notified when the follow-up is assigned and as the due date approaches.

> **Note :** *you can change the owner or due date of a follow-up at any time, as long as it hasn't been closed.*
